August 30 2019 Day 52

The lil red canoe project continues even though the river is at an all time low as demonstrated in this short video , as you can see the canoes won't be going to far , therefor the safe harbour was developed to hold them for now until the river is high enough to send them on their way.
Since my goal is at least one canoe is released per day , therefore I had released lil canoe #64 into the harbour.

August 29 2019 Day 51

August 28 2019 Day 50

Yes I have posted 50 days in a row and always look forward to the next one.

This was a very special day for the lil red canoes and myself, it has been raining for most of the morning and proceeded to still have an art show at the Outdoor Gallery.
Here we have a great group of ladies that call themselves "The Canoodle Heads" and lil canoe #111 was set into the water after each one was sure to touch it .
Its moments like this that really warms my heart.

August 27 2019 Day 48

As the lil red canoe project has evolved I had to overcome some set backs
First the river is at a all time low causing a delayed time line for the canoes to begin their travels.
Second minor setback see image below.

Well it appears the local wildlife enjoy the lil red canoes as much as people do.
No worries to the people that set canoes free , this particular canoe was one of the lil canoes I had set free apparently the squirrel or chipmunk has acquired a taste for red wine and proceeded to gnaw on it.

Therefore I had to corral all the rest with a stick in a safe area in the safe harbour to protect your wishes , dreams or whatever the reason you set one free.

Life does throw curveballs and that is when you step back and think things through

I will protect the lil canoes like my children , and then when ready they will head out and explore , wherever that may be.
Therefore the lil red canoe project will continue despite lil setbacks.

Here we have Lloyd from Bowmanville setting lil canoe #72 into the river .

August 25 2019 Day 46

Well it has been 46 consecutive days I have posted here on the social project of the lil red canoes
This is time of year when the river is very low however the project continues and will all year long.
Many people that have set a canoe in the safe harbour wonder if the river will be strong enough to help the lil canoes on their journey's
So I will take this opportunity to post a little video of the river in beginning of spring and this isn't the full strength of the mighty miskwaa more video to follow

Here we have Barbara from Toronto setting lil canoe #106 into the safe harbour.

August 22 2019 Day 43

The lil red canoe project was launched July 11 2019 and is growing daily and will continue to grow and gain public awareness and engage people for whatever reason they need to set one "free" and for as long as I can create them , my goal for now is 999
You may want to turn up the sound and listen to the Cicada and gurgling of the river.
Here we have lil canoe #58 set into the harbour by me last evening , no breeze , no water current , the ripples in the water are a result of frolicking frogs , the lil canoe appears to be guided by spirits and will wander until it meets up with the other released canoes and then the river will decide when its time to go.

August 21 2019 Day 42

Well its been 42 days since the launch of the " Lil Red Canoe Project" and is continuing beyond my expectations , My project has turned into everyone's social project.
I have met some really amazing people whom started off as strangers and now we are connected.

Here we have Peter from Brampton had just set lil canoe #92 and Deborah from Ajax setting lil canoe #62 gently into the water of the Miskwaa Ziibi river.

Here we have Trish from Toronto setting lil canoe #101 and Linda from Trent Lakes setting lil canoe #95 gently into the water of the Miskwaa Ziibi river.

The lil red canoes will meet up with the others waiting in the safe harbour until its time to begin the journey's to wherever , possibly anywhere in the world or possibly just settle down somewhere on the river and never be found.

Tuesday, August 20, 2019

August 20 2019 Day 41

So when asked what do the lil red canoes do once set into the safe harbour waiting until the river decides when it is time to begin the journey's

It appears they get together and share stories as to why they were set free.

We had lil canoe #78 released by Diane , #87 by Barbara #88 by another Barbara ,#57 by Maureen , safe travels lil ones.

Monday, August 19, 2019

August 19 2019 Day 40

Well its been 40 consecutive days that lil red canoes have been set free in the harbour waiting for the river to decide when it is time to start their journeys to wherever they may go.
More and more people are volunteering to set them free , everybody has a story and everybody has a reason to do this .

Here we have Doug from Tweet On. releasing lil canoe #73 into the safe harbour.
Here we have Robin from Toronto On. releasing lil canoe #74 into the safe harbour , I really like how the rings in the water form upon release.
I really enjoy the process when couples decide to release a lil canoe together and today was no exception , for lil canoe #98 released by Barb and Leo and #93 released by Jane and Bill not imaged for which I respect everyone privacy.

August 16 2019 Day 37

Today we had #71 released by Anna , #81 by Christian , #85 by Seb , #75 by Lola and #79 by Miles all from England visiting our beautiful Kawarthas this summer.

The lil canoes will rest until the river says its okay to begin their journeys to wherever

It was odd that the families canoes rested almost in the same area , I suppose they wish to explore the river together.

August 15 2019 Day 36

As you have been following along with me and the lil red canoes you will find various people with various reasons to set a canoe free.

I now have the ability to post something very special and personal.

We lost our beloved "Yeti" our pyrenese we had for 11 years , he wasn't affectionate , rarely we got a wag of his tail , but we were his people and he constantly was on duty , warning us by barking consistanly that we had wild turkey's in the back or a truck going down the road as dangers we need to know about.

Imaged below is Lynne and myself releasing canoe #83 gently into the water to await whenever the river is ready to send many lil red canoes on their way to wherever.

It doesn't take away the hurt , time will do that , however is one more step to "letting go"

Wednesday, August 14, 2019

August 14 2019 Day35

Something of interest as the lil red canoe project gets noticed by a local publisher.

A lil red canoe was released today , the story will be posted tomorrow.

August 13 2019 Day 34

The project is going better than I really expected it to
People are now sending me emails and messages to come out in advance to set a canoe into the river ,although they won't be at this time begin their journeys', it gives us a lesson on patience , when it is time , they will begin
I set canoe #66 shown here to wait and Robert placed #70 into the still water to wait.

Monday, August 12, 2019

August 12 2019 Day 33

I would like to take this opportunity to say "thank you" to everyone that is following the "lil red canoe" project.
As I had mentioned in previous posts , the basis of the project is to help people , whether just for fun and engage or just needing to "let go"  in a tangible way.
Some people may actively search for them , I can't detour this , it will happen , however if it is meant to be , they may find you"
I have a lot of great people so far and looking forward to meeting many more as this project continues.
As mentioned in other posts I totally respect the privacy of others and some canoes will be released by people that there will be no image , just allowing them their moment .
So canoe #59 was released by Karen , whereas it will rest in the harbour until its time to venture out and explore.

Sunday, August 11, 2019

August 11 2019 Day32

As you see by the video the river is very low and wasn't like that last year , I was hoping to fully release lil canoes all year round.
So for now they will wait , they are not in a hurry and will eventually begin their journey , if not this year , next year and so on.
I set canoe #63 in the harbour , I have been busy creating many lil red canoes and I am expecting many visitors over the next couple of weeks , plenty for everyone.

August 9 2019 Day 30

Well its been a month now since the first lil red canoe # 1 has been set free and the project continues.
The river this year is extremely low as compared to last year whereas the lil canoes would be released and start their journey's immediately.
This is the first year of the project and will continue into next year and hopefully the year after.
Statistics are 72 lil red canoes have been created , 47 of those have been set free by other people of all ages gender and social status.
This blog is now reaching other countries other than Canada and that is fantastic news thanks to this blog.
Here we have lil red canoe # 69 released by me , people have a choice in picking a canoe , they are the same but different just like us , I have the ones that are complete lined up along the rocks
They are set into the harbour awaiting the river to get higher or spring run off as demonstrated in the video below.
This project is on a volunteer basis and has no cost or obligation.
Please feel free to comment , ask any question about the project and I will respond.

August 8 2019 Day 29

The Miskwaa Ziibi river is a very special place , the history, the spirituality is evident , the river changes daily , the sight and sounds , its unique colour described as tea with many healing qualities and not physical but also emotional.
I gently set lil red canoe #60 in the harbour imaged above to await its turn to start a journey to wherever.
Imaged above is Brigitte gently placing #61 into the harbour to await its turn.

August 7 2019 Day 28

Well its been 28 days since the start of the lil red canoe project and it is growing daily.
At the start my goal was 99 canoes in 99 days releasing 1 per day.
So far I have created 65 in 28 days , 48 set free by other people and creating more daily but not sacrificing the quality.
Its been a few days since we have have any signicant rainfall , therefore the lil canoes are waiting in a little harbour until some major rain or fall , whichever comes first.

Image above is Sheila setting #54 into the holding harbour

Image above is Janine setting #55 into the harbour.

Imaged above is Antoinette setting #53 into the harbour

Again everyone has their own reasons for setting a lil canoe free , some for fun ,some make a wish and others have a more personal reason and that remains with them.

August 3 2019 Day 24

This journey called life has a comparison to the lil canoes and their journeys , we both have obstructions to overcome , physical , us more emotional.
Well August 2 was personal for us.

We, as humans know and learn about a lot of stuff , however, we don't know how much time we have or whom we love , has.

This is lil red canoes #37 I released last evening and it's beginning , safe travels

Update November 23 2019
Well it has been over 3 months since our beloved "Yeti" has left us and there is not a day go by that I don't miss him , it is only now that I can see his picture , tear up , smile and remember the good times we had with him for 11 years

August 2 2019 Day 23

I am very happy the "lil red canoe project is getting more attention and I thank you.

Above image is Brenda setting #48 free to begin its journey

Above image is Linda setting #34 free

and here we have Pat setting #49 free.
I have created 51 lil red canoes to date , only 948 to go or until may hands give out.
This project is for years , I will be setting lil red canoes free even in the winter months , the river never freezes over.

Today was the big day for release.

Hey all , I decided to release the "Miskwaa Message in a bottle" canoe on April 3 2022 , I felt the spring run off hit it's ...
